March 1st 2015 Area Lake Clean-up
Annual event for removing debris from the lake around the time Fish Houses need to be off area lakes was held on Sunday March 1st. Houses in the Chisago Lakes Area had to be off by Mid-night Monday March Second.
The weather did cooperate this year by providing a Sun filled afternoon and light winds. Snow cover on the lake was minimal compared to the several inches dropped a few day before the 2014 event. This made it easy to access areas were houses had been sitting with Snow Mobiles and Four Wheelers.
Association members meet at the public landings on North and South Center to discuss strategy and areas to check. There were only three (3) volunteers on South center and five (5) so cleanup took a few hours to complete. A few photos have been posted on Facebook others can be found at 2014 cleanup
This was the first year that all area associations coordinated lake cleanup. With the coordinated effort the Chisago Lakes Lake Improvement District along with Croix Valley Pick-up provided trash dumpsters. having the dumpsters eliminated the need for members to dispose of items at there own expense.
July 23rd 2014 Music in the Park Water Festival
Center Lakes Association Education Chair Nancy Moe-Mergens along with Trinity Lutheran Church Boy Scout Troop 159, Lindstrom-Chisago Lake Association, Chisago Lake Improvement District and Chisago Soil and Water Conservation District to present water demonstrations at Music in the Park (held at Lions Park in Lindstrom). This was a fitting night for the demonstrations with Bob and the Beach Comers providing surfing music in the background. Nancy has been working on brining some of the Children’s Water Festival demonstrations to a community event for the past several years. Attendees of Music in the Park were quite responsive to the Boy Scouts and the demonstrations.
