2016 – Dear Loon Lake Resident
I invite you to join (if not already a member) many of your neighbors in becoming members of the Loon Lake Association. The association is dedicated to maintaining the quality of our lake and improving the natural resources both within and around the lake. THE LOON LAKE ASSOCIATION WILL HOLD ITS ANNUAL MEETING ON SATURDAY, JUNE 11 AT 9:00 AM IN THE VERGAS EVENT CENTER. Dave Majkrzak, the president of Ottertail County Coalition of Lake Associations (COLA) and the president of Taxpayers for Family Fishing (TFF) will give a presentation on the efforts to stop Muskie stocking in Loon Lake and other lakes in Ottertail County and greater Minnesota. Dave has lead the effort to bring this issue before the state legislature this past session. TFF was formed to stop Muskie stocking in “our” lakes until the DNR fisheries can provide a detailed study on the effects of Muskies on the rest of the fish population.
In addition to setting policy, establishing programs for keeping our lake beautiful and walleye stocking , the association takes care of Lake Association directories, buoy placement and removal, water quality testing and member updates on changes in state and county shoreland regulations.
The membership fee for the period from 7-1-2016 to 6-30-2017 is $20 per household.
We also serve up coffee, treats and some good conversation. To sign up or renew, complete and turn in the following membership form at the meeting or mail it to the PO box number above.
