Preserve and enhance the quality of our lakes!
Big Pine Lakes, located in Aitkin and Pine counties, consists of two lakes connected by a channel. The north lake is generally known as BIG PINE LAKE or North Big Pine Lake. The south lake is called PINE LAKE or South Big Pine Lake. The river flowage into the south end of Pine Lake is the start of the Pine River system. Then the Pine River flows out of the north end of Big Pine Lake at the dam.

The Big Pine Lakes Association (BPLA) is a non-profit organization that has grown to 210+ member families in recent years. BPLA’s mission is to preserve and enhance the quality of Big Pine Lakes. BPLA is over 40 years old.
We have over 30 volunteers that help with water quality and fish habitat projects. Our group is also active in the community, contributing to area food shelves and First Responders. Our membership also contributes funds to sponsor the Annual 4th of July Fireworks Display on the lake which is enjoyed by hundreds of area residents. No association funds are used for the Fireworks.
We encourage connectivity amongst our membership by supporting engagement activities around the lakes. These include semi-annual association group meetings, newsletters, boat parades, an association summer picnic event, coordinating volunteer days, sending out monthly email updates, and hosting a Nextdoor site.
Our 2 association meetings are held at the Finlayson Community Center, one at the end of May and one at the end of August. Both meetings are on Saturday mornings and start at 8:30 am with donuts and coffee being served with the official meeting starting at 9:15 am. Meetings typically last about an hour and a half. We distribute 3 BPLA Newsletters per year to our membership group. We also distribute a membership directory which can be picked up at one of the association meetings.
