UPDATE December 2017: The initial $100,000 goal was met and the fund is presently up to about $275,000. Further donations are needed to provide for long-term stability. The fund has already started making grants toward projects in the watershed that are aimed at improving water quality.

WAPOA for several years has been exploring the best way to provide for long-term funding for lake preservation.
Various approaches were looked at but nothing seemed quite right. WAPOA put the effort on a temporary hold.
Then the Initiative Foundation of Little Falls, believing that our efforts for long term planning had merit, offered to fund a very generous match.
The Initiative Foundation offered to give one dollar to our Land and Waters, a Preservation Trust for every dollar that was contributed by our members and other citizens.
The Initiative Foundation will match up to $50,000.00 of contributions. So if our members and other people interested in the lakes contribute $50,000, the Foundation will add another $50,000.
If that happens our donors will have provided a fund with $100,000, and will have been able to get that done with contributions of just half that amount.
